Austria has not communicated a competent authority to the European Commission. The European Commission launched an infringement procedure (INFR(2025)2116) in July 2025 by sending a letter of formal notice for failure to designate and notify a competent authority. In January 2026, the Commission escalated the procedure by issuing a reasoned opinion, confirming continued non-compliance with Article 4(1).

However, there is still no publicly available evidence confirming actual submission of Article 12(1) reports across Belgium, and implementation remained pending in Flanders at the time of the exchange.
