Available information indicates that the draft text is expected to be submitted for consultation with Member States around mid-2026, with possible adoption by the end of 2026.

Establishment of a methane transparency database containing in particular the information submitted pursuant to Art. 12(8), 18(10), 20(7), 23(2), 25(8), 27(2), 28(4) and 29(3).

The Commission has not yet established the Methane Transparency Database. However, the Commission states that it is preparing the database, including the collection of information and the finalisation of its design, and that the Methane Transparency Database is scheduled to be launched in September 2026.
